From wellness exams to acute, chronic and even complex health concerns, we have affordable solutions for you. For parents wanting additional treatment options for their children’s needs, we also specialize in functional and integrative approaches including aromatherapy, herbs, homeopathies, nutrition and nutraceuticals.
Root Cause Pediatrics individualizes every visit and treatment plan. Instead of getting a cookie cutter or a pill-for-an-ill approach with each visit, we will always leave parents and families empowered with more information on enhanced methods to manage their kids needs with unique functional and integrative approaches. We add to the quality of each visit by doing it in the comforts of your home. No more driving in traffic, no more waiting in rooms full of sick, screaming children, no more hassle or worry if your provider will start or be done on time.

Your Provider can be reached at any time. After hours or on weekends with a quick text, portal message or email you can get a timely response.
Length of Visits
No more rushing your child’s unique needs. Each well visit, acute/urgent care visit or functional visit last 30-60 minutes to allow time for parents to ask questions and be educated on the best protocols for their children.
Type of Visits
In addition to home visits, we offer Telehealth visits to established patients for many different concerns. While many acute and chronic needs may require in-person visits, we will save you time and money whenever possible by completing visits by phone or webcam.
Expenses
Our goal is affordable high-quality care. Using Root Cause Pediatrics Non-Insured Discounted Fee or subscription program we can save you money on expensive monthly premiums and provide local services to avoid use of costly urgent care centers or emergency rooms.

Due to the convenience of a traveling practice, the current model does not allow for us to carry vaccines as they have to constantly maintain strict temperature regulations. We direct all families to utilize the local health department services for your child’s vaccine needs. We will ensure that appropriate reminders and discussion is done during each well-child exam to inform parents of their children’s vaccine needs.
Functional and Integrative medicine are unique models of care that offer a patient-centered systems-based approach to disease management and health. Using thorough physical exams, in-depth questionnaires, laboratory review and even genetic analysis we look for upstream causes to physical, mental or emotional health concerns. This information provides a platform to enhance individualized health recommendations to reduce disease risks long term. Using different approaches including nutrition, herbs, aromatherapy, stress management and nutraceuticals, we attempt to correct and balance the different body systems enabling healing and overall wellness.
Most medical practices work on a symptom’s-based approach. If you bring your child in with a skin rash and are told it’s eczema, you probably will get a steroid cream and topical moisturizer recommendation and sent home with a rash that will come back again and again. Root Cause Pediatrics takes a comprehensive systems approach to discover the “why” your child’s skin is flaring up and reactive. Discovering the root or underlying cause of the eczema allows for better long term treatment outcomes and family satisfaction.
We expect full payment at time of service for all services rendered.
Root Cause Pediatrics does not prescribe chronic pain medications. We do not have or keep any pain medication. These are heavily regulated, need substantial monitoring, and have a high rate of diversion. Opioid Prescribing Guidelines have been released by the CDC to combat the prescription drug abuse epidemic, and those patients who use narcotics for chronic pain are encouraged to seek a pain treatment center. We also are very conservative in our prescribing of other controlled substances for anxiety or ADHD. Each case will be reviewed Individually.
If you have insurance, we are legally obligated to bill your insurance carrier or provide you with a receipt of service for you to submit for reimbursement. If you are participating in the Non-Insured Discounted Fee or subscription model you cannot submit claims to insurance.
Your child’s subscription will include routine well visit and any sick or urgent visit and One 30 minute Functional Medicine visit if needed. More comprehensive Functional Medicine visits are not included but can be added for a nominal fee.
Dr. Dykstra does not work at any of the large hospital facilities and cannot round on newborns in the hospital. Dr. Dykstra is excited to get your newborns scheduled with him for their first visit typically 2-3 days after birth.
To avoid excessive travel and allow for more patients needs to be met, at this time we are servicing local families in the Middleton.
